You're Going To Love My Schweddy Balls

Saturday Night Live turns 50 this year!  There is a big special coming up in February with a ton of former snl'ers and I am super excited about it.  So excited in fact that I dug up the Schweddy Balls recipe from one of my absolute favorite sketches of all time "NPR's Delicious Dish" with Alec Baldwin, Molly Shannon and Ana Gasteyer. Here is the skit if you've never seen it::   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPpcfH_HHH8 So anywhoooooooo, I found the recipe for the Schweddy Balls and it is fairly simple.  Its time intensive but you probably already have most of the ingredients on hand and its easy to customize for your own perfect specific balls.  Enjoy!

Schweddy Balls

2 lbs Dark Chocolate- I like to use good quality Belgian chocolate, but anything will work and its totally up to you.

1 block cream cheese or 1 jar of nutella - This is totally up to you and your taste.

Candy - Whatever your absolute favorite kind.  However many you want, these are YOUR Schweddy Balls. I like Recees Peanut butter cups, Ferro Roche, Peanut M&Ms, oreos. Again, however you like your balls.

In a mixer or food processor or anything choppy smash up your candies/cookies/fruits and grind them up very small.  In a separate bowl have your softened cream cheese or nutella and then fold in the candies slowly.  Shape the mixture in ball shapes.  It's ok to have different sizes or different shapes of balls since they're all hand rolled.  Use a wax paper to roll your balls and then melt your chocolate bars and dip your balls in the chocolate and let harden.  After they've gotten sufficiently firm, peel them from the wax paper and then serve your Schweddy Balls to your friends.
