How a Pair of Earbuds Saved My Life

I have over 2 decades of radio experience and have been to countless live shows and I do just fine there. But I get very sonically overwhelmed and it does not end well for anyone.  Over stimulation in adults just looks like absolute rude behavior.  I'm just trying to get a grasp on why I can hear the person 4 rows aways shoestrings.  You have probably seen a toddler or younger kid with headphones on at the most inopportune time and you may have wondered to yourself 'what could possibly that important'?  Controlling what I am hearing and when is paramount to me.  Invest in yourself this year and get yourself some earbuds.  I love these Catitru earbuds.  They are wildly comfortable and cute.  And the best part is they're barely visible so you really can wear them anytime you want.  And I definitely do.  If I start to feel over stimulated or getting anxious, I pop them in and pick my favorite podcast and relax.  It's all i can hear and I'm focused on that and not a million other noises.  When I say it saved my life, I meant that.  I can tune everything else out and just be with me in my own head and it is an incredibly soothing thought.  These stay charged for very long time too, which I also love.  https://amzn.to/4h7fbmy Put your hair in a top knot, put your earbuds in and handle it- that's my motto.

Just Checking on You. You Good?

Here we are in the last couple of weeks in January and how are you? Tomorrow is Blue Monday, The Most Depressing Day of the Year, are you ready? Are you familiar with the term?  The theory goes that the third Monday in January is the time of year when everyone is cold, less well off after the holidays, yearning for sunnier days, and riddled with guilt that new year's resolutions have fallen by the wayside. Are you ok?  I'm thriving most days honestly.  I love it here. But I have been going thru it for the last few days and I am not sure why but I had a really hard  time trying to connect a wireless mic to my laptop and failed epically. I spent a literal 2 days crying that. Tears.  Actual real tears, for 2 days.  And it's still not connected. But anywho, it happens and like a G, I bounced right back.  Updates to the blog include Inaugural Fashion, Aisle Lice (Trust me its not what you think!) and the best fast food options if you are still on your healthy weightloss journey.  Dry January is still here too, so if you're observing and you're still on pace with no pilsner, I am proud of you.  It's really hard to stop drinking and I am proud of anyone who can reach their own goals with that. My favorite N/A drink, Recess, is on sale at Amazon right now, and I promise you, its a game changer. https://amzn.to/4aqJS3w   Enjoy and I love you! xoxo, angie nash

Happy Inauguration Day?

In a shocking plot twist Donald J. Trump has won another 4 term presidency.  Only such a plot twist because so much of the country said out loud that they we're not voting that way.  And I do mention 'out loud' because as I'm always encouraging my friends to get out and vote and I would always end by saying, 'It's just like your bedroom.  You're in there privately, do whatever you want!'. I want to be fully transparent when I tell you that I did not vote this time around. At all. All that being said what kind of wild work is it that Inauguration Day falls on Martin Luther King Day?  The relationships between Trump and the Black community have notoriously not been delightful.  The upside of the crazy coincidence of the 2 days coinciding is that some schools are out for the day, so it's a great moment to take in with your kids.  No matter your political affiliation, Inauguration Day is still a day in history.  And there is tons of music!  The Village People, Kid Rock, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Lee Greenwood and even randomly Gavin Degraw are all slated to be there.   The fashion is off the charts too.  Nike Dior sneakers, Dolce & Gabana and Chanel garments all made their way to the 2021 Joe Biden swearing in.  January 20th is always Inauguration but MLK day is not always Jan 20., but rather the 3rd Monday on January.  This year, it just happens to happen all at once.  MLK Day is a day to reflect on Dr. King's contributions and the impact he had on the country. It's also a day to educate people about racial injustice and encourage them to get involved in service projects.  It is a day to remember Dr. King's advocacy for racial equality, nonviolent resistance, and the betterment of all people.  The first official MLK Day was celebrated on Monday, January 20, 1986 and by 2000 all 50 states finally officially observed. So where's the party?  This party happens wherever you want!  MLK's day of service turns 30 this year and I encourage you to do 30 minutes of good deed work on Monday and I promise, I'll try to do the same too!

It's My Other Favorite Season: Awards Season!

Last night kicked off the second best season of the year.... Awards Season!  The Golden Globes are the loosest and seemingly the most fun of all the awards show.  BTW fun Angie fact is that I would 100% absolutely love to go to an awards show sometime.  I never have been, but I feel like the CMA's or the VMA's would be the ultimate.  "The Brutalist" won big at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, which honored the best of both television and film from the past year.  The real winners are the stylists in my opinion.  I have loved awards shows all my life, but when I started watching them it was because celebrities were so much more elusive.  Now you can have instant access to anyone at any time.  The fashion is always one of my favorite parts.  The grammys, The Oscars, The Razzies and everything in between are right around the corner so put on your favorite caftan and house shoes and sit back and relax and judge all lewks, cheer for our favorites and get the plot lines of all the movies we haven't seen or even heard of.  Cheers to awards season and remember, everyone is winner in someone's eyes.

Welcome to Dry January! Or not. Whatever.

This is the absolute busiest time of the year for gyms and healthclubs.  Everyone has a New Years resolution to be healthier, get fit etc. And sometimes that includes drying out from all your holiday festivities and not drinking any alcohol all month. Hence, Dry January.  There are some cool sober alternatives.  Adaptogens, moody drinks etc.  I wish more clubs and restaurants offered that option instead of just the usual Diet Coke or Shirley Temple options you get if you are not drinking.  There are many more options than there were a few years ago, so that's a step in the right direction. I cut back massively on my boozy ways.  Mainly for health reasons, I was gaining so much weight and just super unhealthy.  Now that I wake up without a hangover, and I don't have blackout nights and I'm not spending tons of money on booze, I am really glad I took the step back.  I still love a good cocktail, but now more occasionally and socially than my need for it every day.  Cheers and Happy New Year! Xoxo, Angie Nash
